Hello and Welcome

I was looking for a way to become more of a member of the community. It’s something that most of us search for, that feeling of belonging. A blog is something I’ve toyed with in the past, mostly to document lessons learned when I tried to hang my shingle; that didn’t go so well and the blog sort of died with it.

LinkedIn offers opportunities to self-publish “articles” and I’ve used that to some extent. I think there was too much pressure on myself to provide “business” content. Write articles about best practices, what organizations need to know, how to work with the C-suite, and all those fun business reads.

The issue is that that’s not all I’m interested in; I want to share random musings, thoughts on materials, items that I’ve seen, and the lessons learned through the trials and error. I hope to be able to provide those. To be the place those new to InfoSec can watch an actual professional document learning process, struggles, and just being someone in the field and in the community.

So that’s what this will be. I’m new to the format, so I’m sure there will be some pretty extreme design changes in layout as I learn and become more comfortable. Lesson one, don’t wait until perfect. This is expected to be show warts and all. For the newcomers, the people who are users only, for professionals, and everyone else. Talk about community, learning, teaching, working with youth, and working in the global community of people at large.

I hope you find it interesting, sometimes educational, and occasionally just a fun read. I’ll try to use my voice, so there may be points of humor along the way.
